GOD's WILL and Our Requests
Posted: 21 Jun 06 8:14 AM
All right, saints! Here's a question for your pondering:
GOD said in HIS word that if we ask for anything, if we believe then we shall have it. But what if it's not in HIS will for us to have it? What then?

Praise the Lord!!  I think this is an interesting question. I will answer with my opinion. God in his great wisdom knows all things. We may perceive something as desireable or feel the need to want it but the question is if it is in the will of God?

The bible teaches us in Matthew 6:10 "They kingdom come, thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." So really in all things the question is it his will? Because he loves us would he grant us something that would harm us or cause us to depart from him? No. The scripture tells us to acknowledge him in all of our ways. Not some but all of our ways.

I have heard the message stated before as "Gods' yes is as good as his no"  This is true. For example, I have been waiting on a companion and at one point I believed it was someone. I prayed to the Lord and told him my request and asked him if it was his will to let it be done. However, it was not the Lord's will. I sought the Lord and he gave me an answer. I remember praying at the altar about the situation and as I was driving home still talking to the Lord, I heard that still small voice say "It is not my will for I have choosen another".  I received confirmation several more times about this.

At first I did not understand but I accepted his will and went about my way. Now, I thank the Lord because I have seen some qualities and characterics in that person that I never saw before and I truly Thank the Lord! So he knows what is best for all of us and though I am not married yet, I am confident that he will not give me someone who is not compatible and does not love him as much as I do. I will wait on the Lord and not go in my own will but I pray that his will be done and it will.

Praise the Lord!...imo....He knows whats best for us....and I don't think that He would grant us what we asked for if its not in His will.....the reason I say this....is because He has showed me something....and when He showed me....I kept questioning it....and it all boils down to....I picked up my bible and when I opened it.....my eyes landing on.....

Isaiah 55:8

FOR MY THOUGHTS ARE NOT YOUR THOUGHTS, NEITHER ARE YOUR WAYS MY WAYS, saith the Lord.

Isaiah 55:9

FOR AS THE HEAVENS ARE HIGHER THAN THE EARTH, SO ARE MY WAY HIGHER THAN YOUR WAYS, AND MY THOUGHTS THAN YOUR THOUGHTS.

Isaiah 55:10

FOR AS THE RAIN COMETH DOWN AND THE SNOW FROM HEAVEN, AND RETURNETH NOT THITHER, BUT WATERETH THE EARTH, AND MAKETH IT BRING FORTH AND BUD, THAT IT MAY GIVE SEED TO THE SOWER, AND BREAD TO THE EATER:

Isaiah 55:11

SO SHALL MY WORD BE THAT GOETH FORTH OUT OF MY MOUTH: IT SHALL NOT RETURN UNTO ME VOID, BUT IT SHALL ACCOMPLISH THAT WHICH I PLEASE, AND IT SHALL PROSPER IN THE THING WHERETO I SENT IT.

Then right after that....the next place I went to in the bible....my eyes landed on this scripture.....

Numbers 23:19

God is not a man, that he should lie, neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

Well......that is how he dealt with me on that.....

I am certain that GOD will bless in HIS own time and in HIS own way. However, I suffer all too often with lack of faith and waiting on GOD to accomplish what HE said that HE would. Alot of times I become afraid that the thing that I want so desperately may not be in GOD's will for me to have and I have to work on acceptance if that it the case.

My assistant pastor told me that I needed to seek and petition GOD for a promise and then get a confirmation that HE will bestow blessings on me.
